Reports: Richie Incognito used racial slur, threatened family members in texts to Jonathan Martin

Suspended Dolphins lineman Richie Incognito sent texts and voice mails containing racial epithets and threats of violence to Jonathan Martin, according to Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports.

The NFL's investigation into bullying and hazing within the Dolphins organization has uncovered evidence that includes Incognito threatening acts of violence against members of Martin's family and referring to Martin, who is biracial, as a "half-n-----."  Incognitio also left threatening voicemails for Martin, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Martin's abrupt departure from the team in late October has led to an investigation into the NFL's culture of hazing.

Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report has indicated that in addition to the written and spoken abuse, Incognito also invoked an extreme version of what is known in the NFL as a "rookie tax," by which veterans force first-year players to pay for expensive meals. The report indicates that Incognito went as far as having Martin pay $15,000 towards a Las Vegas vacation for Incognito and other Dolphins.

Incognito has been suspended indefinitely by the Dolphins pending the results of the investigation. Martin has taken a leave of absence from the team since the incident occurred.
