Report: Florida jury convicts man in fatal shooting trial of Redskins S Sean Taylor

A Florida jury on Tuesday delivered a guilty verdict for the man prosecutors said was the ringleader in a 2007 botched robbery attempt and fatal shooting at the house of 24-year-old Redskins safety Sean Taylor, according to a report from the Associated Press.

After nearly four hours of deliberating on Tuesday, the jury found 25-year Jason Mitchell guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Following the conviction, the judge presiding over the case issued Mitchell a mandatory life sentence for murder, and another 40 years for being convicted of armed robbery. According to to testimony in the case cited in the report, Mitchell was instrumental in planning and coordinating a plan for five Fort Myers men to burglarize Taylor's home after they had learned about large sums of cash being held there.

The man who fired the fatal shot was convicted last fall of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 57 years in prison. Two other men await trial, and a fourth man already pleaded guilty to second degree murder and burglary.
