Mets starter Daisuke Matsuzaka leaves Sunday's game with 'severe upset stomach'

Mets starter Daisuke Matsuzaka left Sunday's game against the Padres at Citi Field after only one inning due to "a severe upset stomach," the team announced on its Twitter account.

He was replaced by Carlos Torres after finishing a scoreless first inning.

Matsuzaka came to the mound late, pushing the 1:10 p.m. ET start time back a few minutes. He walked two batters in the inning, and was visited by manager Terry Collins and a trainer after the second.

The 33-year-old is 3-0 with a 2.88 ERA in 20 games this season, and Sunday was his fourth start. He is 56-40 with a 4.44 ERA in his career — six seasons with the Red Sox and two with the Mets.

The Mets, who entered the game 30-38, had only four relievers available for Sunday's game.
