FIFA Secretary General is 'amazed' by the level of drunkenness at the World Cup

Remember when John Oliver ripped FIFA apart for forcing Brazil to allow them to sell beer at the World Cup despite firm national laws preventing that? It looks like (surprise, surprise) FIFA may have been in the wrong.

FIFA's Secretary General Jerome Valcke appeared on SporTV on Monday, where he said that he was "amazed" by the sheer number of drunk people in Brazil and that "maybe there were too many people who were drunk." He also made the connection between drinking and violence (Brazil banned beer at soccer matches in 2003 to help reduce this violence).

FIFA and Valcke now seems to be (slowly) reversing their position. He said that alcohol sales are "something we need to look at" and that "if we think that it is necessary to control [alcohol sales], we will control them."
