Maine Black Bears vs. Boston College Eagles

Maine travels to Boston College in Week 4 on Saturday. The Eagles are 2-1 this season and are coming off an upset of then-No. 9 USC last week. Maine comes in at 1-1 after a 13-10 loss at Bryant last week. Boston College is 4-3 all-time against Maine but has won the last four meetings, including a 34-3 win in 2012. The Eagles’ last loss to the Black Bears was in 1915.

The win over USC last week was Boston College’s first against a top-10 team while unranked since beating No. 4 Notre Dame in 2002.

Quarterback Tyler Murphy rushed for a career-high 191 yards against USC, his second game this season with more than 100 yards on the ground.

Boston College’s run defense gave up 303 yards on the ground in a loss to Pittsburgh but allowed just 20 to the Trojans.

Linebacker Josh Keyes had 5.5 tackles for loss against USC.

BC rushed for 452 yards against a USC defense that had allowed just 285 yards in its first two games.

The Eagles broke a 12-game losing streak against top-25 teams with the win over USC.

Freshman wide receiver Sherman Alston made his first career start last week and had his first career touchdown on a 54-yard run at the end of the second quarter.

The last time two unranked ACC teams beat top-10 teams in the same season was in 1981 when Clemson beat No. 4 Georgia and Georgia Tech beat No. 1 Alabama. BC’s win over No. 9 USC followed Virginia Tech’s victory over No. 8 Ohio State on Sept. 6.
