Alexander Abnos is a journalist that has covered soccer since 2004, having watched it for about as long as he can remember. Born and raised in Kansas City, he has traveled all over the world and covered the game in many of those places, including the 2014 and 2006 World Cups, several MLS Cups, the English Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Eredivisie, Bundesliga, Brazilian Serie A, and Argentine Primera Division. Aside from Sports Illustrated, Alexander's work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Pitchfork, WNYC, and Howler Magazine (where he is also a senior editor).
His favorite goal ever and favorite World Cup goal ever were both scored by Ronaldinho, but his favorite player is Preki.
Away from soccer, Alexander plays drums and assorted other instruments in the band Secret Cities. In his free time he eats enchiladas and sleeps.
