Mel Antonen

Mel Antonen, a freelance writer in Washington, D.C., has done baseball features for SI.com since 2010, including how the Washington Nationals have gripped top lawmakers in the U.S. House and Senate, a look at the 1983 Pine Tar Game, and a profile of Rafael Palmeiro as he approached his first chance to make the Hall of Fame.

Antonen is an analyst for MLB Network Radio at Sirius-XM and MASN-TV, the network that covers the Orioles and Washington Nationals. He is a native of Lake Norden, S.D., and a graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. He started his career at the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, covering high school sports and then agriculture and politics.
