UFC fighter Conor McGregor told Esquire he thinks it would take him fewer than 30 seconds to beat Floyd Mayweather in a fight.
Though McGregor acknowledged Mayweather as the best boxer on the planet, in the hypothetical event of a face-off between the two men, the rising MMA fighter feels pretty confident in his abilities.
"I don't look at a man who's expert in one area as a specialist," McGregor said. "I look at him as a rookie in ten other areas. If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather—pound-for-pound boxing's best—if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than thirty seconds. It would take me less than thirty seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him."
The two men aren't scheduled to fight, and likely never will, but it's fair to think McGregor would have a good shot under his own rules. If it were strictly punching though, well, there's a reason Mayweather is the undefeated champ.
McGregor will fight Jose Aldo in July for the featherweight title.
Mayweather, of course, will box Manny Pacquiao for the welterweight title on May 2.
