Todd Mayo leaves Marquette to go pro

MILWAUKEE (AP) Marquette guard Todd Mayo has decided to leave the program to pursue a professional basketball career.

Mayo is leaving before his senior season and Steve Wojciechowski's first year as head coach. The guard played three seasons with the Golden Eagles under former coach Buzz Williams, averaging 11.3 points as a junior in 2013-14 and showing a knack for hitting clutch shots off the bench.

The 6-foot-3 Mayo, Milwaukee Bucks guard O.J. Mayo's younger brother, took part in workouts for the first summer session at Marquette, but was not enrolled in the school's second summer session. He left the school in good academic standing, and Wojciechowski wished Mayo well in a statement announcing the guard's departure.
