"They could have beaten some NBA teams tonight," Briggs said after the game. "There's no doubt in my mind."
Kentucky is the preseason No. 1 team in the country. In the exhibition win, seven Wildcats finished in double figures.
Sophomore guard Aaron Harrison led Kentucky with 17 points.
Kentucky coach John Calipari pushed back against Briggs' comments, arguing that the Wildcats would not have a chance against an NBA team.
I hear Coach Briggs got excited after the game last night. Let me be clear: If we played ANY NBA team, we would get buried. ANY.— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) November 10, 2014
Briggs also said after the game that he doesn't foresee any team beating Kentucky this season. From Kentucky.com:
"Honestly, I don't see how they're going to be beat this year," Briggs said. "I hate to say that."
The Wildcats made the championship game of the NCAA tournament last year. They finished the season 29-11 overall, including postseason play.
Kentucky will open up its 2014-15 regular season this Friday night at home against Grand Canyon.
