NCAA tournament committee could reveal some seeding information early
Thursday November 20th, 2014

NCAA vice president Dan Gavitt told USA Today earlier this week that the men's basketball tournament selection committee has considered revealing some seeding information before the rest of the bracket. Xavier head coach Chris Mack was critical of that plan, saying he does not want the committee to "pull the curtain back."

Gavitt said the committee has considered making the change due to the popularity of the weekly rankings released by the College Football Playoff.

Traditionally, all bracketing information is released on 'Selection Sunday.' Unlike the current football models, teams are not aware of their standing with the committee until the bracket is announced.

Xavier has been selected to the NCAA tournament in four of Mack's five seasons as coach, each time as an at-large bid. The Musketeers were eliminated in the round of 64 in last year's tournament with a 74-59 loss to North Carolina State.

The Musketeers are  2-0 this season and play Stephen F. Austin on Friday.
