Texas sophomore guard Damarcus Croaker will transfer from the program, Jeff Goodman of ESPN reported Tuesday.

Croaker has appeared in five games this season, averaging 9.4 minutes per. He was unable to crack Texas' backcourt rotation even after starting point guard Isaiah Taylor was lost for 4-6 weeks with a broken wrist on Nov. 20.

He played a season-high 23 minutes vs. Saint Francis on Nov. 25, but played only a combined four minutes in two of the Longhorns' subsequent four games, sitting out two entirely.

A former four-star recruit for Texas in 2013, Croaker started two games as a freshman last season, vs. BYU and DePaul. He averaged 3.3 points in 9.5 per minutes per game and scored a career-high 15 points against Oklahoma.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Croaker is expected to transfer somewhere closer to home in Orlando, Fla., so that he can be closer to his young son.

Texas has won eight of its first nine games, losing only to No. 1 Kentucky on Dec. 5. It hosts Lipscomb on Tuesday night and opens Big 12 play at Texas Tech on Jan. 3.
