DePaul brings back former coach Dave Leitao
DePaul has reached an agreement with Dave Leitao to bring back the former Blue Demons coach, the school announced Sunday.
ESPN's Andy Katz first reported the sides were nearing a deal, which is for five years, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
Leitao, 54, was the head coach at DePaul from 2002 to 2005. He led the Blue Demons to one NCAA tournament and two NIT appearances.
After the 2005 season, Leitao was hired as the head coach at Virginia. He was 63-60 in four seasons there and made one NCAA tournament and one NIT.

Leitao was fired by Virginia in 2009. He spent one season coaching the Maine Red Claws in the NBA D-League, followed by three years as an assistant under Frank Haith, first at Missouri and later at Tulsa.
Buffalo's Bobby Hurley and Valparaiso's Bryce Drew were also candidates for the DePaul job, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Oliver Purnell resigned as DePaul's head coach earlier this month after five years on the job.
