Utah State will hire longtime assistant Tim Duryea as its next head coach, reports ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Stew Morrill, who had been the Aggies coach since 1998, announced in January that he will retire at the end of the season.

Report: Chris Mullin expected to accept St. John's job

Duryea has been serving as Utah State's associate coach since 2008 and joined the staff in July 2001, spending his first seven seasons in charge of the team's defense.

Morrill led Utah State to 12-straight 23-win seasons from 1999 to 2011. The Aggies finished 18-13 this season and have missed the NCAA tournament in each of the last four years.
