Mamadou Diarra, a highly regarded power forward prospect, verbally committed to UConn on Friday.
Diarra chose the Huskies over Virginia Commonwealth.
"UConn is the school I always had in mind," Diarra said, according to the Hartford Courant. "Coach Ollie and I have a great relationship. He's the coach I want to play for."
Diarra attended Putnam Science (Ct.) Academy last season but will play at Woodstock (Ct.) Academy this season.
Rivals.com rates the 6'8,'' 225-pound forward a three-star prospect in the class of 2016.
He is the first player in that class to commit to the Huskies.
