Brad Calipari to play for father at Kentucky next season
Brad Calipari, the son of Kentucky coach John Calipari, will join the Wildcats as a walk on next season, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Calipari, a 6'0", 180-pound guard, played his final two seasons of high school basketball at the MacDuffie School in Massachusetts. He began his career at Lexington Christian Academy in the city where his father has been coaching since 2009.
He also played for the Kentucky Travelers of the Nike Elite Youth basketball League, averaging 3.0 points in 10.2 minutes last summer.
John Calipari has said in the past that if his son decided to walk on at Kentucky, he would remain the coach at the school. He has been the subject of yearly NBA coaching rumors since revitalizing the Wildcat program.
Kentucky (21–8) is currently ranked No. 22 in the AP poll.
