The No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers (27–7) will face the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels (30–6) in the Sweet 16 on Friday.
Indiana knocked off rival Kentucky with a 73–67 win in the round of 32 on Saturday. Freshman center Thomas Bryant led the Hoosiers with 19 points and five rebounds, and senior point guard Yogi Ferrell wasn’t far behind with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists. The win was Indiana’s first tournament victory over Kentucky since 1973.
North Carolina beat No. 9 Providence, 85–66, to punch its ticket to the Sweet 16. Senior forward Brice Johnson was the team’s leading scorer, accounting for 21 points and 10 rebounds in his 21st double-double of the season. Johnson is now averaging 19.5 points per game this tournament.
