BYU head coach Dave Rose underwent surgery on Monday to remove "cancerous spots" that were found during his latest cancer screening, the school announced.

"The surgery went well," Dr. Courtney Scaife of Huntsman Cancer Hospital said in a release from the school. "I expect him to make a full recovery."

According to the release, Rose has undergone screenings every six months since he was diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor cancer in June 2009. Rose is expected to be back for the official start of practice on Oct. 7.
