Report: Damontre Harris will not return to Florida
After transferring from South Carolina following the 2011-12 season, Harris was poised to contribute last season for the Gators. But he wound up missing all of last year after head coach Billy Donovan suspended him on Nov. 1 for violating team rules. In the spring, Harris voluntarily returned to the team and was allowed to practice but did not see any game action. Harris now has one year of eligibility remaining.
In his one season at South Carolina, Harris was a force inside on the defensive end, averaging more than two blocks per contest, and earning All-SEC defensive team honors in 2011-12.
The Gators did fine without Harris this season, going 32-2 and losing to Connecticut in the Final Four. With the addition of USF transfer John Egbunu, the Gators were one scholarship player over the limit, and Harris was the casualty.HAMILTON: First Look: Kentucky and Florida should battle for SEC supremacy again
