Michigan State has added transfer Eron Harris, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard who was West Virginia's second leading scorer last season.

Harris, who had also considered Michigan and Purdue, averaged 17.2 points in 33 games for the Mountaineers in 2013-14 and will have two years of eligibility left. He scored at least 20 points in 11 games, shot 43.8 percent from the floor and averaged 3.5 rebounds a game.

Under NCAA rules, Harris would have to sit out the 2014-15 season unless he receives a waiver to play this season. The Indianapolis native said in March that he wanted to transfer closer to home, and he cancelled a planned trip to Michigan this past weekend.

"It was the vibe and feeling I got from the whole situation," Harris told ESPN.com. "I already had formed a relationship with Coach (Izzo), but when I got to look into his eye and hear his plan for me, I could see how genuine he was."
