Dezmon Epps has been dismissed from the University of Idaho football team, the Associated Press reports.
Epps was arrested in April for DUI in Pullman, Washington, which is located just across the border from the University of Idaho's campus in Moscow. He pleaded guilty in June, and received one day in jail and two years probation. Idaho coach Paul Petrino said Sunday that Epps was dismissed for a "violation of team rules."
Epps spent the first two years of his career in junior college at the City College of San Francisco. In his first season with the Vandals he caught 79 passes for 980 yards with four touchdowns.
Idaho opens the 2014 season on August 30 at Florida. In the Sun Belt Conference preseason coaches poll, they were picked to finish ninth out of 11 teams.
