Former Arkansas defensive back Chris Murphy is transferring to Cincinnati, according to a report from Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.

Murphy enrolled at Arkansas in January and participated in spring workouts. In May, coach Bret Bielema said through a spokersperson that he was uncertain whether Murphy would remain with the team.

Murphy was assigned a three-star rating and ranked 43rd among cornerbacks in the class of 2014 by the recruiting website Rivals.com. He drew scholarship offers from Arizona, Missouri and Oklahoma State, among other programs.

Murphy is expected to join Cincinnati for preseason camp next week. The Marietta, Ga., native will likely sit out the upcoming season in compliance with NCAA transfer rules.

In a preseason media poll released last week, Cincinnati was picked to win the American Athletic Conference. The Bearcats open the 2014 season Sept. 12 against Toledo.
