Central Florida head coach George O'Leary denied a Fox Sports story saying that he plans to resign later this month.

Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman filed a story Saturday, saying in part “George O'Leary is giving strong consideration to stepping down this season.” The report also said that offensive line coach Brent Key is next in line to take over the program.

UCF, who went 12-1 and won the Fiesta Bowl last season, open the season Aug. 30 against Penn State in Dublin, Ireland.

O’Leary turns 68 on Aug. 17. He has a 72-56 record in 11 seasons at Central Florida.

"I don’t know anything about that stuff and where that came from," O'Leary told the Orlando Sentinel. "I never spoke to anybody from Fox or anybody. I don’t have any idea what that’s about.”
