Four Notre Dame players—DaVaris Daniels, KeiVarae Russell, Ishaq Williams and Kendall Moore—are under investigation, sources told SI.com's Pete Thamel and Brian Hamilton. Yahoo! Sports first reported the investigation.
According to the school, four players are being investigated, though it did not identify them. The school says the players will be "held out of practice and competition" until the investigation is completed.
"Evidence that students had submitted papers and homework that had been written for them by others was initially detected at the end of the summer session, and referred to the compliance office in athletics on July 29," the school said in a press release. "The Office of General Counsel initiated an immediate investigation."
Notre Dame, ranked 17th in the preseason coaches' poll, opens the season on Aug. 30 against Rice.
