Roney Elam, a highly touted defensive back from Newton, Texas, announced Friday that he has verbally committed to Texas A&M.
Elam is the No. 46-ranked player in Texas and No. 37-ranked cornerback in the class of 2015, according to the recruiting website Rivals.com.
Elam drew scholarship offers from Alabama, LSU, Texas and Oklahoma, among other programs.

Elam is the fifth defensive back and 20th player in the class of 2015 to commit to Texas A&M.
The Aggies' 2015 recruiting class is ranked No. 4 in the country, according to Rivals.com.
Texas A&M, ranked 20th in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, opens the season Aug. 28 at South Carolina.
