Ozell Powell, a former Alabama football player, was shot and killed Wednesday night, according to reports.
The shooting occurred in Powell's hometown of Greenville, Ala.
Powell, 40, started 25 games from 1993-96, compiling 67 tackles and four sacks as a defensive lineman. Powell intercepted a pass against Florida in the 1996 SEC championship game.
Powell signed with the Falcons as a free agent in 2000 after playing on the Redskins' practice squad for two seasons and spent time in the defunct XFL.
