Wide receiver Van Jefferson commits to Georgia

Highly touted receiver Van Jefferson announced Monday that he has verbally committed to Georgia.

Jefferson, the No. 23-ranked receiver in the class of 2015, according to the recruiting website Rivals.com, caught 87 passes for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior season at Ravenwood (Tenn.) High. He is the son of former NFL receiver and current Titans wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson.

Georgia Bulldogs flip 4-star DL Jonathan Ledbetter from Alabama

Jefferson, who also drew scholarship offers from Auburn, South Carolina and Clemson, among other programs, is the third wide receiver and 21st player in the class of 2015 to commit to the Bulldogs. Georgia's 2015 recruiting class is ranked No. 4 in the country, according to Rivals.com.

The Bulldogs, ranked 12th in the preseason AP poll, open the season Aug. 30 against No. 16 Clemson.
