Four North Carolina players have been suspended one game for violating team policy, coach Larry Fedora announced on Wednesday.

The players are defensive backs Desmond Lawrence, Brian Walker, M.J. Stewart and Donnie Miles.

Lawrence and Walker are starting cornerbacks, while Stewart and Miles are top backups in the secondary.

UNC Football Recruiting: Defensive Update

Notice of the suspensions comes one day after Yahoo Sports reported that UNC is investigating a hazing incident among members of the football team.

The school announced in June that the NCAA has re-opened its investigation into alleged academic fraud involving Tar Heels football and men's basketball players.

The Tar Heels went 7-6 in 2013 and open the upcoming season Saturday at home against Liberty.

How will hazing scandal impact UNC?

On Thursday's SI Now, Sports Illustrated college football writers Zac Ellis and Martin Rickman discuss UNC head coach Larry Fedora suspending four players due to hazing and what the scandal means for the school.
