On Monday, Spurrier said that Davis was "sort of doubtful" for the game after re-injuring his ribs in last week's loss to Texas A&M. Davis had only six carries for 15 yards against the Aggies.
Spurrier had said that junior Brandon Wilds would probably start in place of Davis.
Last season Davis rushed for 1,183 yards and 11 touchdowns last season while earning second-team All-SEC honors.
The Gamecocks slid from No. 9 to No. 21 in the latest Amway Coaches Poll.
