The Florida Gators had their season opener against Idaho postponed due to weather and playing conditions, so their first game of the season will come in Week 2 when they host the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Eastern Michigan defeated Morgan State 31-28 in its season debut.

Three players were suspended for the Florida season opener: defensive tackles Jay-nard Bostwick and Darious Cummings for violation of team rules, and wide receiver Demarcus Robinson for a university sanction. Despite this weekend's game serving as the new opener for the team, all three players will be eligible to play.
Saturday's game will serve as the second meeting between the two teams, with Florida holding a 1-0 series advantage after a 49-10 win in 2004.
Florida is 10-1 all-time against current MAC schools.
The Gators have not lost in a home season opener since 1989.
