The Iowa Hawkeyes opened the 2014 season with a 31-23 over Northern Iowa, and they continue their home slate with a matchup against the Ball State Cardinals in Week 2. Ball State also secured a victory in its season opener, knocking off Colgate 30-10.

Ball State has now won its season opener in five consecutive seasons. 

The Cardinals have been bowl eligible in three straight seasons and have a 17-2 record over their last 19 regular season games.

Ball State produced a school record 501 points during the 2013 season, breaking the old mark of 489 set in 2008.

Both Horactio Banks and Jahwan Edwards surpassed 100 yards rushing in the season-opening win over Colgate.

Iowa has a 2-0 series advantage and has outscored Ball State 101-0 in the two meetings.

The Hawkeyes have won four consecutive regular season games. 

Thirteen different receivers caught a pass during the win over Northern Iowa. It was just the fourth time a Big Ten team has had that many pass-catchers since 2000.

The Hawkeyes are 20-4 in program history against opponents from the Mid-American Conference.

Two true freshmen, LB Ben Niemann and DB Miles Taylor, appeared in the season opener. 

Iowa allowed just 25 rushing yards against Northern Iowa in week one.
