The helmet worn by former Auburn cornerback Chris Davis during his game-winning 109-yard return during last year’s Iron Bowl game against Alabama is being put on the auction block, reports ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell.
According to the report, Goldin Auctions said they acquired the helmet from a family friend of Davis. The helmet is signed by Davis and inscribed "Game Used Iron Bowl 2013."
Ken Goldin, the president of Goldin Auctions of West Berlin, New Jersey, said Davis wore the helmet all season. Davis' return propelled Auburn to the SEC Championship game against Missouri. The Tigers beat Missouri and then lost in the BCS Championship Game to Florida State.
"I know there are several Auburn graduates who are big memorabilia collectors who will be bidding on this," Goldin said.
The auction for the helmet starts Monday and will end Nov. 1. Bidding for the helmet starts at $5,000.
Davis is now on the roster of the San Diego Chargers after going undrafted in the 2014 NFL draft.
