Illinois quarterback Wes Lunt will miss the next four to six weeks after sustaining a leg fracture in Saturday's loss to Purdue, according to Shannon Ryan of The Chicago Tribune.

A sophomore transfer from Oklahoma State, Lunt was having a strong season before going down in the 38-27 loss at home. In five games, he completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,569 yards and 13 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He also ranked in the top 20 nationally in a number of statistical categories.

Lunt missed the Illini's Week 5 game against Nebraska due to a leg injury.

Head coach Tim Beckman said he thought Lunt was having a great season before the injury and the team hopes to have him back for the final three games of the season: at home vs. Iowa and Penn State and then away vs. Northwestern

Illinois is now 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the Big Ten. It travels to Wisconsin next for a game on Saturday.
