Michigan State senior linebacker Taiwan Jones said Tuesday that Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett is better than Braxton Miller, Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Barrett has led Ohio State to a 7-1 start after Miller was lost for the season due to a torn rotator cuff during the preseason. A redshirt freshman, Barrett has completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 1,856 yards, 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while also rushing for 496 yards.

Miller is the two-time defending Big Ten player of the year. Last season, he completed 63.5 percent of his passes for 2,094 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and he also rushed for 1,068 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Miller tore his rotator cuff during the Orange Bowl against Clemson before re-injuring it in August. He will return for his senior season in 2015, and coach Urban Meyer said he will be the starter regardless of how well Barrett plays this season.

Michigan State's Jones said Barrett is a much better quarterback than Miller.

The Buckeyes have won six straight games since a 35-21 loss to Virginia Tech in Week 2. The Spartans also have a six-game winning streak following a Week 2 loss to Oregon.

No. 7 Michigan State hosts No. 13 Ohio State on Saturday at 8 p.m ET.
