Eastern Kentucky athletic director Mark Sandy is set to assume the same position at Ball State, ESPN's Brett McMurphy reports

Sandy has spent more than nine years heading up Eastern Kentucky's athletic department. During his tenure with the Colonels, the athletic program won the Ohio Valley Commissioner's Cup twice, the men's basketball team advanced to the NCAA tournament, and the school established a women's soccer team.

In September, Ball State athletic director Bill Scholl announced he was leaving the school to head up Marquette's athletic department. Ball State's athletic director job has been vacant since Scholl's departure.

Ball State is set to host a press conference on Thursday announcing the Cardinals' new athletic director, according to the Indianapolis Star. The school's executive director of public relations told The Star that 60 people had applied for the position.
