Stoops said the suspension is for academic and team rules violations. Ford is not currently listed on the team's online roster for 2015.
Ford broke his fibula last September and missed nearly two months of his sophomore season. He ran for five touchdowns in the three games before the injury but did not score anymore in the five games after he returned. Overall last season, Ford ran for 392 yards and five rushing touchdowns as well as one receiving touchdown.
When Ford was sidelined, Samaje Perine emerged as Oklahoma's top running back. Perine ran for 1,713 yards and 21 touchdowns on 263 carries as a freshman in 2014.
The Sooners finished 8–5 last season, losing to Clemson in the Russell Athletic Bowl to end the year.
