The University of Pittsburgh expects to hire current Utah State athletic director Scott Barnes for the same position, ESPN's Jeff Goodman reports.

Barnes, 52, has served at Utah State's AD since 2008. During his tenure, the school's football team has appeared in four straight bowl games and won consecutive bowl games for the first time in program history.

The Aggies basketball team also went to the NCAA tournament three times during his tenure.

Before serving as Utah State's AD, Barnes was a senior associate athletics director for advancement at the University of Washington from 2005-2008. He was also the athletic director from Eastern Washington University from 1999-2005.

Pittsburgh has been looking to fill its athletic director position since the university parted ways with Steve Pederson in December.
