South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier said the school won’t be pursuing former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson.

Golson announced last week that he would use his final season of college eligibility to play at another school.

“We are not pursuing (Everett Golson),” Spurrier told The State. “We are not really in that.”

Golson has already made visits to Florida State and Florida.

Originally from Myrtle Beach, S.C., Golson went 17-6 as a starter for the Fighting Irish, passing for 5,850 yards with 41 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He also ran for 581 yards on 208 carries with 14 touchdowns during his career at the school.

He led Notre Dame to a 12-0 regular season in 2012 and a berth in the title game, where they 42-14 to Alabama. He was suspended from school in the fall of 2013 for academic impropriety.
