LSU OC Cam Cameron treated for cancer, has ‘clean bill of health’
According to the Baton Rouge Advocate, Cameron said he was given a “clean bill of health” about two weeks ago and that he’s doing fine, and the team expects Cameron to remain at his post and coach the 2015 season. He has been involved with the Tigers during preseason camp and been going through “minor recovery stuff,” including an undisclosed procedure.
Miles said the team had been informed about Cameron’s condition and that the program had kept the news quiet on purpose.
Cameron, 54, is in his third year as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at LSU and in the final year of his contract. He spent time in the NFL as offensive coordinator of the Ravens (2008-12) and Chargers (2002-2006) and as head coach of the Dolphins (2007). He was also the head coach at Indiana from 1997-2001.
LSU is ranked No. 14 in the AP poll. The Tigers open the season against McNeese State on Sept. 5.
