The last time the Pittsburgh Panthers used a script logo on their helmets, Darrelle Revis was just a freshman.
Pitt will ditch the block letters they implemented in 2005 and return to script, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette. Former athletic director Steve Pederson used the script logo for the football team's final six games last season.
Pitt’s new AD Scott Barnes has decided to return the logo to full-time use, across all sports starting in 2016–17. Only the football team’s helmets will feature the logo this year, because uniform designs had to be submitted to Nike almost a year ago.
“When that Pitt script is showing, we want people all over the country to understand that’s the University of Pittsburgh,” Barnes told the Post-Gazzette.
The Panthers open up their 2015 campaign on Sept. 5 against Youngstown State.
Mark that down on your calendars, in script.
