UCLA defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes has a torn ACL, according to multiple reports. Edward Lewis of Rivals.com was first to report the news, followed by Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman and others.

Head coach Jim Mora told reporters Sunday that Vanderdoes suffered a knee injury in the Bruins’ season opener against Virginia. Vanderdoes’s knee “locked up on him” early in the game, Mora said, according to the Los Angeles Times, and he was forced to the sideline after he collapsed while trying to help a teammate off the ground in the third quarter.

Vanderdoes, a junior, has played in all 26 of UCLA’s games since arriving on campus in 2012. He had 50 tackles last season and 5.5 tackles for loss. He was the Bruins’ leading tackler on Saturday with eight stops.
