When Pittsburgh's star running back James Conner went down with a torn MCL during the team's game against Youngstown State on Sept. 7, it obviously had an effect on Duke head coach David Cutcliffe.
On Tuesday, Conner tweeted a picture of the get well note Cutcliffe sent him just a day after the injury.
“You are a great competitor and we wish you the best of luck with your recovery,” Cutcliffe wrote, adding that he admires Conner's spirit and talent.
Conner is a vital part of the Panthers offense, leading the team in rushing yards each of the last two season. He was named ACC Player of the Year and an American Football Coaches Association first team All-American in 2014 after rushing for 1765 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Pittsburgh will play Duke on Nov. 14.
