Notre Dame rallied for a 34–27 victory on the road against Virginia, with backup quarterback DeShone Kizer throwing a 39-yard touchdown pass to Will Fuller with 12 seconds left. Kizer has stepped into the starting quarterback role after Malik Zaire suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Georgia Tech has opened its season by routing Alcorn State (69–6) and Tulane (65–10). Quarterback Justin Thomas has led the offense, completing 10 of 13 pass attempts for 151 yards and 73 yards rushing on 13 attempts for five total touchdowns.
