Campus Clicks: Houston's surprising start, UCF bar offers free beer
Herman and The Cougars
Houston is one of the most underrated football programs in the country. The Cougars have reached a bowl game in nine of the last 12 years and won 10-plus games three times since 2006. The program is now led by former Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman, who might be building a powerful recruiting lure in Texas, writes SI's Chris Johnson.
Most people outside of Houston and Columbus don't know much about Herman but here's one thing that will make you fall in love with him instantly: He doesn't let boosters sit in first class on team flights and instead gives the luxurious accommodations to his lineman.
Apparently some Tennessee fans took a bachelor party trip to Gainesville last weekend to watch the Vols and Gators do battle. Their team might have lost after blowing another late double-digit lead but at least they got to arm wrestle some Florida players later that night:
Lost Lettermen created a list of 10 throwback CFB helmets that should be permanent and yes, that sick Hawaii rainbow helmet is included.
You need to watch this insane catch from Ilir Emini, a receiver for D-III Knox College. It might be the catch of the season at any level.
College football might be phenomenal entertainment but they're running very long this season, with games averaging a time of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Here's an awesome article from SI's Richard Deitsch on how ESPN is dealing with longer games.
An Orlando bar is offering free beer until UCF (0-4) wins a game. OK, then.
Yay or Nay?
Pink Out Neyland
Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at Tennessee is attempting to "Pink Out Neyland" for their game this weekend versus Arkansas:

Meet CFB's dark-horse playoff contenders ... Is Clemson wearing special chrome helmets for the Notre Dame game? ... Idaho players defend coach Paul Petrino after anonymous accusations ... Did you know that only 49 FBS schools have ever been ranked at the top of the AP Poll? Oklahoma has spent the most time at No. 1, but Ohio State is closing fast. Dicky V: It's time to ban Larry Brown from coaching college basketball.
Love the Enthusiasm
Illinois became the first school to broadcast college football games in Mandarin Chinese and it's so dang cool:
William Wrigley, Jr.
In honor of William Wrigley's 154th birthday today, let's remember one of the oddest college football games ever played. Illinois and Northwestern played at Wrigley Field in 2010 but only one end zone was used for safety reasons:
