The Yellow Jackets climbed to No. 14 in the AP Top 25 after opening the season with wins over Alcorn State and Tulane. Georgia Tech’s slide began Sept. 19 during a road loss to No. 8 Notre Dame and continued with last weekend’s road loss to Duke.
Georgia Tech outgained Duke 316–279 in the 34–20 loss, but managed only two touchdowns while going 5-of-19 on third downs and getting only two red-zone scoring opportunities. Quarterback Justin Thomas completed six of 21 pass attempts for 143 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while also rushing a team-high 24 times for 58 yards and another touchdown. Running back Patrick Skov led the Jackets with 75 yards on 19 carries.
