Pittsburgh lost reigning ACC Player of the Year James Conner for the year in season opener, but the Panthers have started the year 5–1. The Panthers' only loss on the year came to Iowa in Week 3 of the season. Iowa is undefeated and ranked No. 12 in the country.
Last week, the Orange fell to 3–3 on the year as the team lost its third game in a row. Syracuse lost to Virginia in triple-overtime despite quarterback Eric Dungey's 16 for 22 performance with 150 yards and two touchdowns. Dungey also led the rushing offense for 85 yards on the ground and one more touchdown.
