The Seminoles (6–1) fell from the No. 9 spot to the No. 17 spot in the top 25 poll following their first loss of the season to Georgia Tech last Saturday. The Yellow Jackets blocked a kick by Roberto Aguayo that would have broken a late tie, and Georgia Tech defensive back Lance Austin returned the ball 78 yards down the field for a game-winning touchdown.
The Orange (3–4) are trying to get their season back into gear after falling to the Pittsburgh Panthers last Saturday for their fourth-straight loss of the season. Pitt kicker Chris Blewitt made a 25-yard field goal just as time expired to seal a 23–20 victory over the Orange.
