No. 17 Northwestern (9–2) and Illinois (5–6) resume their annual in-state rivalry at Chicago’s Soldier Field on Saturday. The Wildcats have won four straight behind a staunch defense and can achieve their second 10-win season of Pat Fitzgerald’s tenure with a win. Northwestern won a controversial game at Wisconsin last week and will be favored to win this year's battle for the Land of Lincoln Trophy.

Illinois needs a win to become bowl-eligible as interim head coach Bill Cubit tries to make a case to keep his job next season.

Last year, the Illini beat the Wildcats 47–33 at Ryan Field in Evanston, Ill.
