The first month of the season provided evidence of where teams stand in the national pecking order, but we won’t know how good squads truly are until they get through conference play. Three key matchups between top 10 teams this week—No. 8 Wisconsin at No. 4 Michigan, No. 3 Louisville at No. 5 Clemson and No. 7 Stanford at No. 10 Washington—should provide more clarity,  and there are plenty of other intriguing tilts that will impact conference title races. A panel of Sports Illustrated writers and editors (Andy Staples, Pete Thamel, Lindsay Schnell, Brian Hamilton, Joan Niesen, Colin Becht and Gabriel Baumgaertner) made its picks for every big game.
