Houston will wrap up its second season under coach Tom Herman when it goes on the road to take on upstart Memphis.

Herman's name has been swirling around the coaching carousel, as schools with opening coaching vacancies will likely reach out to his representatives.

Memphis (7–4, 4–3 AAC) has split its last four games, but came away with a 34–7 win over Cincinnati and is bowl eligible for the third straight year.

Houston routed Louisville 36–10 to jump back in the Top 25 after losses to SMU and Navy last month. The Cougars sacked Heisman favorite Lamar Jackson 11 times.

The offenses will take center stage in this game, as the Tigers and Cougars have almost identical offensive stats; Houston averages 37.5 points and 444 yards a game, while Memphis puts up 38.5 points and 453 yards a game.

The difference is the defense, where Memphis gives up 426 yards a game, more than 120 yards more than the Cougars.

Houston has beaten Memphis six straight times, including a 35–34 thriller last season.
